MID-WINTER GPA CONFERENCE The Mid-Winter GPA Conference will be celebrating the 25th Anniversary of having a Mid-Winter Conference. It will once again be held in Helen, Georgia - March 17 - 19, 2010. It will be held at the Country Inn & Suites - 706-878-9000, rates will be $69.00 a night. The Country Inn & Suites is sold out but continue to call them and they will set you up at the overflow hotel that is next door, the rate will be the same. In order to help celebrate this event - we will be having a drawing for each Area for those who join GPA by January 31st. A drawing will be held from those who have paid their dues by the deadline for their Mid-Winter Registration to be paid. If you go ahead and register for the Conference and you win, you will receive a refund for your registration. DON'T DELAY IN RENEWING! The Membership Form and Application for the Mid-Winter Conference are on the forms section.The Training Sessions will be informative, exciting and beneficial. The Commissioner, the Director of Corrections and the Director of Probation Operations will be there with updates and that would be a good time to ask questions; there will be a segment on "Force on Force", with the opportunity to do scenarios (see note about bringing your gear); information on how to deal with Mental Health Probationers; information about the new Probation Call Center and a guest speaker. And much more. One of the Training Sessions will be a "Force on Force" Scenario - Probation and Surveillance Officers need to bring their full gear to conference if they want to do this scenario. On Wednesday Evening (March 17) at the dance there will be a Leprechuan Contest - so break out your best St. Patty's attire and come and compete for a prize - 1st, 2nd and 3rd. And if you don't want to participate come and cheer for your favorite GPA Leprechuan. On Thursday Evening (March 18) at the dance we will be celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the Mid-Winter Conference. So break our your silver (or gray) and jeans - and enjoy the fellowship with your co-workers.
